Turkey: International human rights law training for lawyers - Protection

BHRC and ARTICLE 19 to hold series of trainings for lawyers in Turkey in international human rights law and mechanisms to reinforce protections for refugee and migrant populations.

The Bar Human Rights Committee of England and Wales (“BHRC”) and ARTICLE 19 are pleased to announce that they will be hosting a series of four free remote training sessions in the effective use and practice of international human rights law and mechanisms to reinforce protections for refugee and migrant populations in Turkey.

BHRC and ARTICLE 19 invite expressions of interest from lawyers practising in Turkey who work with refugee and migrant populations to attend the following sessions:

  1. Rights under the European Convention on Human Rights
  2. Refugee rights under international law
  3. Accessing rights under the ECHR: Council of Europe mechanisms and submissions to the European Court on Human Rights and the Council of Ministers
  4. Accessing UN mechanisms, including special procedures and treaty mechanisms.

All sessions will be held online on 7, 9, 14 and 16 December at 7.30pm (Turkey time).

Participants will be expected to join all four sessions. The training will be delivered in English with simultaneous interpretation to Turkish.
