London: Guernica magazine free expression special edition launch

Come and join us to celebrate the launch of a special free expression edition of Guernica, the award winning online magazine that blends ideas, art, poetry and fiction.

This special edition of the magazine, produced in collaboration with Free Word and in association with ARTICLE 19 and English PEN, features contributions from leading writers on some of the most crucial questions concerning free expression today.

What does it mean to safeguard free expression for those we revile? Who guards this freedom online in a fractured and conglomerated internet? What does free expression mean in societies that have suffered atrocities?

To celebrate the launch of this special edition of Guernica, we’ll be exploring some of these questions in a discussion at Free Word Centre.

The discussion will be hosted by the author Kamila Shamsie and includes conversation with Guernica’s Editor Michael Archer, novelist and filmmaker Xiaolu Guo, and writer Mirza Waheed, who contributes to the issue.

Availability for this event is limited, if you are interested in attending, please email lauren @ freewordcentre.com
