Albania: Joint international mission on press freedom and safety of journalists

From 18 to 21 June 2019 a coalition of seven international press freedom organisations will carry out a joint advocacy mission to Albania, focusing on improving the situation of press freedom and the safety of journalists.

The mission will meet with journalists, editors, media owners, civil society representatives, members of the diplomatic community and high-level Albanian officials, including Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The organisations joining the mission are: ARTICLE 19, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), the International Press Institute (IPI), the South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO) and Reporters without Borders (RSF).

Mission meetings will take place in Tirana, with a press conference on 21 June, 09:30, at Rogner Hotel Tirana. Representatives of all participating organizations will be available for comment and interview during the mission.
