On 15 December, ARTICLE 19 and the Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD) organised ‘Affordable and Secure Digital Infrastructure for Media and Journalists’, an event to discuss how World Summit on the Information Society +20 (WSIS+20) commitments can be transferred into practical actions, and which took place alongside the WSIS+20 High Level Meeting.
Anna Oosterlinck, ARTICLE 19’s Senior Advisor on Global Advocacy at ARTICLE 19,, joined the panel of fellow freedom of expression and digital rights policy experts. They considered the key role media and journalism play in fostering a people-centred and inclusive Information Society, and highlighted that public-interest infrastructure and open-technology standards will help provide digital services that bolster economic and social opportunities for everyone.
