On 10 March, ARTICLE 19 will take part in ‘Protecting Human Rights while Using Artificial Intelligence to Counter Terrorism’, a side event at the United Nations Human Rights Council 61st Session.

The Geneva event will focus on the Position Paper presented by Ben Saul, Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, and launched at United Nations Headquarters in New York in October 2025.

Anna Oosterlinck, ARTICLE 19’s Senior Global Advocacy Advisor, will speak specifically about the use of AI to counter terrorism and how it affects freedom of expression and civic space more broadly.

1:00-2.00 pm, Palais des Nations
