Surveillance State: What do Encryption and Anonymity mean for the UK?

An evening’s discussion and Q&A with former director of GCHQ, Sir David Omand, and UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, David Kaye.

Hosted by the global campaign for freedom of expression, ARTICLE 19, this exclusive event will include the first UK presentation by David Kaye of his ground-breaking report to the UN on Encryption and Anonymity. It will be followed by comments and observations from Sir David Omand, and an audience Q&A.

Following the Anderson Report, and with the UK government considering a range of new surveillance powers, many of which could have huge implications for encryption, anonymity and human rights, this event could not be more timely.

Join an audience of leading figures from the international community to hear about the UN Special Rapporteur’s recommendations on encryption and anonymity, and what they mean for surveillance and human rights in the UK.
