Honouring Quinn McKew’s service as she steps down as ARTICLE 19‘s Executive Director - Civic Space

Today ARTICLE 19 announces the departure of Executive Director Quinn McKew. A distinguished free expression advocate, Quinn has led ARTICLE 19 since 2020, and is departing after over 15 years, having been instrumental in shaping ARTICLE 19 into the organisation it is today.

Since joining ARTICLE 19 in 2011, Quinn played a vital role in developing a world-leading programme of work on digital infrastructure and human rights and in transforming the organisation into a leading voice in protecting civic space and media freedom and advancing corporate accountability.

Under her leadership, ARTICLE 19’s strategy focused the organisation’s efforts on ensuring everyone, everywhere can realise the power of their voices – to challenge authority, seek change, and create a fairer and more just world.

Bob Latham, Chair of ARTICLE 19’s International Board, said:

‘On behalf of everyone at ARTICLE 19, I want to sincerely thank Quinn for the years of tireless work. Her courage and tenacity in the defence of voices that speak truth to power is an example for us all to follow. We wish her the very best for the next chapter of her career.’

ARTICLE 19’s International Board has initiated a search for a new Executive Director to be led by a search committee that will drive the process in the coming weeks.
