ARTICLE 19, together with 15 other international organisations as part of the Sport for Rights campaign, condemns threats against Emin Milli, Director of Meydan TV, made as a result of his critical reporting ahead of the European Olympic Games, currently being hosted in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
Milli was one of the speakers at a pre-Games press briefing at the Frontline Club in London in April, organised by ARTICLE 19, Index on Censorship and Human Rights Watch – Azerbaijan: Give Human Rights a Sporting Chance – which sought to shed light on severe human rights abuses and the crackdown on civil society carried out by the Azerbaijani authorities in the last year.
