HEAD OF DIGITAL

As networked communication environments, encompassing the internet and telecommunications, continue to disrupt and revolutionise almost every aspect of modern society, the interplay of interests for states, private sector and civil society in moulding the evolution of the digital and media spheres are becoming ever more apparent.

ARTICLE 19 has a unique role to play as a leading global freedom of expression and information (FoE) organisation with the network, skills and standing to propose and promote standards for the modern era. As such, ARTICLE 19 is looking to recruit a Head of Digital to lead ARTICLE 19’s work on embedding human rights principles in Internet governance and standard-setting bodies, and advise on cutting-edge issues on the border of technology and freedom of expression online. She/ he will also support ARTICLE 19’s work relating to digital rights, internet governance and the intersection of human rights and technology. The Head of Digital will manage a global team of experts, so experience of people management at a senior level is essential.

MENA PROGRAMME CONSULTANT

Salary $1900.00 per month

Location: Beirut

ARTICLE 19’s office in Tunisia is looking for a consultant based in Beirut to lead in the implementation of ARTICLE 19’s projects in the region; including research, leading on social media communications and the finalization for delivery of a new website, managing relations with partner organisations, as well as lead in project implementation, in particular coordination of workshops.

The consultancy has a particular focus on freedom of expression, combatting hate speech and promoting equality and non-discrimination and therefore the consultant will be expected to engage and promote ARTICLE 19’s hate speech toolkit (https://goo.gl/H4WNqE), to ensure ARTICLE 19’s effective communication in the MENA region on this theme in particular, and advise on the development of further work in the region under the organisational strategy for the region, in consultation with partners.

Head of Asia Programme

Salary: Competitive

Location: Flexible within the Southeast Asia region

We are looking for a new Head of the Asia Pacific Programme to lead ARTICLE 19’s work on freedom of expression and information in Asia Pacific, focused on the Southeast Asia region, and in particular on Cambodia, Malaysia and Myanmar. The post does not cover the South Asia region. The Head will identify new strategic areas for ARTICLE 19’s consolidation and growth in the region, ensuring a cohesive and coordinated implementation of the programme of work in the region, and providing qualitative management to ARTICLE 19’s staff and supervision of consultants.

The Head of Asia-Pacific Programme will manage the Asia-Pacific Programme team based in the respective project offices and provide input into organisational governance as well as contribute to strategic planning, wider policy discussions and campaigns.
