• Strengthening the legal and regulatory framework for freedom of expression and the right to information across the Middle East and North Africa and with a particular emphasis on the Gulf sub-region. 
• Building the capacity of government officials, civil society members and media professionals to implement freedom of expression rights through training, best practice standards, network building and provision of information. 
• Promoting media diversity, by nurturing an independent, diverse and gender-sensitive media. 
• Promoting and enhancing women’s rights for freedom of expression and information with a particular focus on gender-sensitive media and the participation of women in elections. 
• Campaigning against attacks on free speech and particularly censorship of the internet and artistic expression.
