Bangladesh

Bangladesh NGOs’ Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC)
BNNRC is a national networking body aimed at building a democratic society based on the principles of free flow of information, equitable and affordable access to Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for remote and marginalised populations.

Mass-line Media Centre (MMC)
MMC’s main focus is media mobilisation and rural advocacy. Its mission is to remain a partner of media professionals for effective media activism, particularly at the rural level, as well as to demand the establishment of people’s rights and to promote mobilisation from local government and civil society.

SUPRO - Campaign for Good Governance
SUPRO (formerly CAPRES) was formed in 2001 based on a survey with Bangladeshi grassroots NGOs with the aim to conduct a campaign for non-confrontational politics, to promote the defence of human rights and democratic governance. Past campaigns include protest against World Bank Immunity in Bangladesh and World Rural Women’s Day.

Burma

Burma Media Association (BMA)
The Burma Media Association is an independent organisation established in January 2001 by overseas Burmese journalists, reporters and writers who practice and advocate freedom of expression in Burma.

Mizzima News
Mizzima News is a Burmese news organisation. It was established in August 1998 by a group of Burmese journalists in exile. The International Press Institute awarded Mizzima News its Free Media Pioneer award in 2007.

Cambodia

ADHOC - Cambodia Human Rights and Development Association
ADHOC, based in Phnom Penh, is the first Cambodian organisation established with the aim to address the human rights situation in Cambodia. Its main activities include human rights education of authorities, farmers and students, as well as monitoring and investigating human rights violations with particular emphasis on women’s rights.

CLEC - Cambodia Legal Education Center
The Community Legal Education Center is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of the rule of law, democracy and development in Cambodia. It has established itself as a centre of excellence in legal instruction, research and resource development.

Center for Legal Assistance to Pollution Victims (CLAPV) 
The Center for Legal Assistance to Pollution Victims is a non-governmental environmental protection organisation established in October 1998. It was approved by China University of Political Science & Law and registered with the Chinese Judicial Ministry.

CREATE

Suara Rakyat Malaysia

Friends of Maldives (FOM)
Friends of Maldives (FOM) was formed in December 2003 as a Human Rights NGO aimed at increasing awareness of human rights abuses in the Maldives. FOM works closely with leading NGOs, the media, government bodies and international institutions to ensure regular reports are circulated concerning the Maldivian Governments human rights abuses.

Nepal

Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ)
With over 5000 dynamic members practicing journalism (from every sphere of the modern media) across the length and breadth of Nepal, FNJ represents the entire media fraternity of the nation. Its foremost function is to preserve and promote media freedom in Nepal and to evolve a disciplined media culture. In addition, it carries out programmes to promote professional journalism, protects journalists’ rights, promotes media ethics, and conduct trainings for journalists.

Freedom Forum Nepal
Freedom Forum Nepal is a relatively new initiative towards attaining the long cherished goals of press freedom and human rights in Nepal. It is an NGO working for the cause of democracy and supporting other like-minded institutions, protection and promotion of human rights, press freedom and freedom of expression as well as the empowerment of various development initiatives.

Pakistan

The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives, (CPDI-Pakistan)
CPDI-Pakistan is an independent, non-partisan and not-for-profit civil society organisation working on issues of peace and development in Pakistan. Established in September 2003, it seeks to inform and influence public policies and civil society initiatives through research-based advocacy and capacity building. Areas of special sectoral focus include promotion of peace and tolerance, rule of law, transparency and access to information, budget and legislative monitoring and development.

Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ)
PCIJ is an independent, non-profit media agency that seeks to encourage the development of investigative journalism. The Center funds investigative projects for both the print and broadcast media. It puts out books on current issues and publishes an investigative reporting magazine. In addition, PCIJ organises training seminars for journalists and provides trainers for news organisations in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

Centre for Policy Alternative (CPA)

Thailand

Thailand Development Research Institute
The Thailand Development Research Institute was established in 1984 to conduct policy research and disseminate results to the public and private sectors. It is Thailand's first policy research institute and is recognised as an NGO by the Royal Thai Government. The Institute provides technical and policy analysis that supports the formulation of policies with long-term implications for sustaining social and economic development in Thailand.

Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, India
The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative is an NGO mandated to ensure the practical realisation of human rights in the countries of the Commonwealth. Its objectives are to promote awareness of and adherence to the Harare Commonwealth Declaration, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other internationally recognised human rights instruments, as well as domestic instruments supporting human rights in Commonwealth member states.
