Annual Joint Declarations of the UN, OAS, OSCE and ACHPR mechanisms on freedom of expression Every year since 1999, ARTICLE 19 has facilitated meetings of the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Opinion and Expression, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and the OAS Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, resulting in a Joint Declaration on current freedom of expression and information topics. In 2006, the recently appointed Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights joined the process for the first time.
