Although all these cases must be investigated, we notice that half of the violations were very serious, related with murder, murder attempt or death threatens. The reasons are very similar: corruption whistleblow or authorities criticism that leads defamation lawsuits or other serious threatens.
ARTICLE 19 is also concerned about several others freedom of expression online issues:
- Court decisions unbalanced with freedom of expression right and leads censorship
- Restrictive bills proposals
- Government requests for content removal
- Some institutional behaviour codes that inhibits freedom of expression on social media.
