The alien theory
Mohammad Javad Larijani of Iran’s Judiciary (the head of the human rights council in the judiciary) gave the world reassurance that we have fair judicial procedures in Iran. According to him, "No one is currently under house arrest without trial or judicial order. Everyone is safe....Mousavi and Karroubi summoned people to the streets who subsequently committed violence." The two opposition figures have been held under strict house arrest for nine months without a public explanation of their charges. Interestingly enough, just recently both Grand Ayatollah Sane'i and Ayatollah Dastgheib called for the release of Mousavi and Karoubi. And as if that was not enough, Mr. Larijani added, “No lawyer is imprisoned in Iran. The person who has been arrested is charged with terrorist activity and support of terrorist groups. It is only logical that a country deals with terrorists." It just occurred to me that maybe he is an alien, just landed somewhere in Iran, and never heard of a name like Nasrin Sotoudeh, The problem with the alien theory is that this person holds a high position in the Iranian Judiciary.
BBC Persian again!
Hassan Fathi, journalist, was detained by security agents after he broadcast a live report Saturday about a blast at the Revolutionary Guard depot that killed at least 17 soldiers. There seems to be no end to the story of BBC Persian and Iranian authorities’ reactions.
Political prisoners pardoned?
Press TV highlights that the Supreme Leader has pardoned or commuted the sentences of 912 prisoners for the Muslim ceremonies of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Qadir. The decision was made in response to a relevant request from Iran's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani (Oh yes you have guessed it right, they are brothers. In fact, there are a few of them who are actively making contributions to the legislative, judiciary and executive forces). And I have heard stories that refute this generous gesture. The choice is yours.
Facebook in constant fear of losing market shares
In a separate feature, Ahmadinejad announced the launch of a new social network for youth, titled "Heralds for Peace and Justice". This social network claims to advocate for peace and justice across the world and encourage youth participation in social affairs.
